With 25 years of nationwide coverage, the STAR television station has made its mark and gained an important place in television audiences’ preference. Its aim is to continue to play a leading role in the fields of information and entertainment. Situation
The Star Channel was looking for a plan to assist its business when and if there’s an emergency or potential threat to its solvency. These can be any number of risks, from natural disasters like fires, earthquakes, etc., to other man-made risks, such as cyberattacks, which are outside of normal operating conditions.
Solution
Both the organizations on-premises data center and cloud infrastructure are replicated to a secondary Azure Region. If an outage occurs at the primary site, the applications and services will fail-over to the secondary Azure location from which they can access the company’s data. Once the primary location is up and running, the data can move back.
The existing on-premises backup solution is replaced by Azure Backup, that keeps the company’s data safe and recoverable at a cloud instance.
The company’s infrastructure is located at an on-premises Data Center and on Microsoft Azure. The two locations are connected using Site-2-Site VPN. The need for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery is for the whole infrastructure, both on-premises and on Azure. Using Azure for BC & DR provides a common solution for both on-premises and on Azure infrastructure. We replicated both infrastructures to an Azure Region, different from the production Azure Region. In addition, the data are safe and recoverable by backing up to Azure.
